Vinnie Ferraro is the Ruth Lawson Professor of International Politics at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts, USA. This blog is maintained for the benefit of the students in my classes, and its primary objective is to provide information about contemporary events in world politics. Insofar as is possible, I try to maintain a certain degree of balance in the selection of news articles, but I do not subscribe to the belief that all sides must be represented. Some news articles are posted simply to obfuscate or confuse, and all points of view are not always substantiated by the evidence. I wish to provide information that leads to informed and reasoned debate.
Dear Professor Ferraro, Thanks for the lecture at Kimball Farms this evening about Crimea. The subject of tax havens in the Carribean came u . You told me you would send me information about tax havens particularly as it relates to their use by wealthy Amreicans.

Dear George,
The best source for information about tax havens is the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists. They are completely transparent about their information so it can be easily checked. You can find their reports of tax havens at: http://www.icij.org/offshore.
Be prepared: there is an incredible amount of information on the site. It should keep you busy for some time.
Best,
Vinnie

Hi Professor Ferraro,
Still use this blog as a source of obtaining news I wouldn’t otherwise find/be looking for in particular. You publish some interesting and important world news, great idea for a daily blog.
Keep up the quality, you’ve got one daily reader!

Hello Professor,
About a year and a half ago you recomended After Virtue, by Alasdair MacIntyre, to me in a conversation after class. I have just finished it, and I would to say thanks, as it has made me understand much about moral utterances and modern idealogies today.
Thanks

Dear Vinnie – I cannot tell you how helpful your blog has been to me and our family at this troubled time in our nation’s and world’s history. Your ability to select a few relevant topics each day and give rich analysis in a short paragraph and “lazar-targeted” links to key information is priceless. Thank you.

Dear Professor Ferraro, I am happy to have stumbled across your blog! You won’t remember me because I was a pretty average first-year student in your World Politics class, but in my life I have taken two of your teachings to heart to improve our world: I have only had two children (overpopulation), and I have been replanting abandoned farmland with native species here in LaMancha, Spain (desertification). You should know that the land recovery bit has been much harder than raising two boys.
I sincerely hope you are enjoying life,
